Papers of Jake More, 1932-1968.

The papers of Jake More document his years of work for the Democratic Party in Iowa. Beginning with his work with the Young Democratic Clubs of Iowa, the papers contain programs, lists of officers, and conference materials. The Shelby County Democratic Central Committee is represented with items such as financial reports, correspondence, and voter lists. His involvement with the Democratic State Central Committee is reflected in correspondence, party platforms, press releases, auditor's reports, etc. Much of the collection is campaign specific, dealing with the elections of President Truman and Iowa's governor Herschel Loveless. Guy Mark Gillette was born in Cherokee, Iowa, February 3, 1879. After attending public schools, Gillette served as a sergeant in the Fifty-second Iowa Regiment of the US Army during the Spanish-American War, from May 25 until October 30, 1898.
